THIS IS NOT A CURE was created in 2020-21 as a GF&CO 3C (Creative Collective Ceremony) in response to the Covid pandemic and lockdown. 

THIS IS NOT A CURE is a devised work created and performed by GF&CO Member Actors and conceived and directed by Gia Forakis. It was shot live, entirely on Zoom, with members in lockdown around the country and across the globe. 

THIS IS NOT A CURE was intended to bring a sense of healing from loss and to bridge the imposed experience of isolation by building a new experience of "human connection".  It was developed on the Zoom video platform, which, at that time, was a relatively new video conferencing tool. Since then, "Zooming" has come to redefine our professional and social lives, influence how and where we live, work, communicate, and build community, as well as inform our ideas on learning, relationships, interaction, and bonding.

THIS IS NOT A CURE was not intended to "cure" the effects of the pandemic isolation, nor the grief of lost connection, lost employment, lost community, nor lost loved ones. It was designed as a healing ceremony and formatted as a rite of passage through the dark, mysterious unknowns of the virus and our sorrows, leading to rebirth and renewal. Coincidentally, we began our collaboration in the dead of winter 2020, and completed the video for release on the first day of spring 2021, just in time to capture the first crocuses breaking ground. 

It was made and offered from the heart of our art and meant to be seen and shared free of charge.

3C's are a unique format, developed by GF&CO, for creating collaborative devised works where the development phase all takes place on Zoom. 

3C's are created with the intention to offer the viewer/audience a transporting experience into the sacred, mystical, and liminal realms of ceremony: ceremonies for awakening a vision of possibility and new beginnings through an encounter with the transcendent and transformative powers found in the ancient origins of ritual, art, and performance.
